A Bike of Her Own

Location: Saint Paul

Partner: Project Reach

Category: Shelter

Story

This individual is in foster care and has experienced significant instability in her daily life. A bike, helmet, and lock would provide her with independence, normalcy, and a sense of control that youth in foster care often lack.

A bike would give her reliable transportation to school, community programs, and services, while also supporting physical activity that reduces stress and improves emotional wellbeing. Perhaps most importantly, it would give her something truly her own — a source of pride and responsibility in a life where much feels temporary.

This is a meaningful investment in her physical health, emotional resilience, and personal growth.
